Going for an adventure in the forest is difficult, but going to Batang Ai Longhouse will give you some lovely memories.

Start the day with a drive from Kuching to Batang Ai. There are many lovely landscapes and picture-perfect countryside scenes. Upon arrival, get a conventional longboat for a nice journey in the waters of Batang Ai Lake, which is surrounded by a lush, green forest.

Arriving at the Batang Ai Longhouse, you see tall, towering trees. When you reach there, everyone at Batang Ai will welcome you warmly. It is the time to immerse in a traditional lifestyle filled with authentic native patterns.

You can also participate in cultural activities like handicraft demonstrations, where many skilled artisans will show you their skills in weaving and beadwork. After that, you can have a nice dinner with conventional Iban cuisine and enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals.

On the second day, you will wake up by the sound of birds chirping in the surrounding rainforest. Enjoy your walk in nature well-guided by our experienced local guide. The minute you step out into the forest, you get to find various of edible plants and enjoy the view of beautiful, hidden waterfalls.

After breakfast, you can participate in traditional activities like blowpipe shooting. You get an insight into the Iban way of life and how they deeply connect to the real world. With ample gratitude, bid your native guides goodbye and travel back to Kuching city.

Day 01 : Depart to Batang Ai Longhouse ( L, D)
 
Today we depart for Batang Ai passing through scenic countryside consisting of quaint little towns, villages, padi fields, pepper and oil palm plantations interspersed with secondary and virgin jungle as the road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior with a short stopover at Serian Town. The 2nd Stopover will be for lunch at Lachau, a small town on the way to the resort. Arrive at Batang Ai Hydro Lake. The journey will take you across the lake into the Engkari River, one of the many tributaries flowing into the lake. The journey will take approximately 37 minutes before reaching Ukom Longhouse nestled on a hill beside the river. Check in to your dormitory styled accommodation and explore the longhouse at your own pace while discovering its people and its surroundings. Later in the evening, you are required to prepare one of the popular dishes called “Manok Pansoh” (Bamboo Chicken). Whether or not your Chicken cooked in Bamboo turns out right depends on you as you are also to learn the technique of turning the bamboo from time to time at our specially built fireplace. After dinner join the longhouse residents for a glass or two of tuak (rice wine) and a short cultural performance. The Iban are a fun-loving people, and visitors are expected to join in whatever activities are going on at the Longhouse! Overnight in the guesthouse. Overnight in the longhouse dormitory style accommodation build for visitors. ( L, D)
 
 
Day 02: Longhouse - Kuching (B, L)
 
After breakfast gather for a blowpipe demonstration and try shooting one of these lethal darts. Return back to Kuching via the same route. Lunch serve en-route. (B, L)
