Get up close with Borneo’s orangutans on this hands-on conservation experience at Matang Wildlife Centre. Assist with cage cleaning, food preparation, and enrichment activities to support their rehabilitation.
Head over to Semenggoh Nature Reserve as well, where you’ll have a chance to observe semi-wild orangutans during their feeding session. A truly rewarding and unforgettable wildlife encounter awaits!
**MINIMUM 7 DAYS ADVANCE BOOKING**
Pickup at your hotel in Kuching at 8:00 AM. After a 40-minute drive, you will arrive at Matang Wildlife Centre, where park rangers will provide a briefing on the day’s activities and safety protocols before we proceed with hands-on conservation work begins. Participants assist in cage cleaning, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the orangutans. They will also take part in food preparation, learning about the orangutans’ dietary needs and helping prepare nutritious meals. Another key activity is enrichment, where volunteers create engaging tools and activities to stimulate natural behaviors in the orangutans, aiding in their rehabilitation process.
The conservation activities will end abot 11:30am, followed by a certificate presentation ceremony to acknowledge participants’ contributions. Then, we will depart for a local restaurant to enjoy a well-deserved lunch before continuing the journey.
After lunch, we will proceed to Semenggoh Nature Reserve. After a briefing from park rangers, you will proceed to the 3:00 PM feeding session, where you can observe orangutans in a semi-wild environment as they come to collect food. While sightings are not guaranteed, as the orangutans roam freely, this is a rare and rewarding opportunity to see them in their natural habitat.
